Montblanc presents Award for Outstanding Student Achievement to MIBE student Markus Gößler
Montblanc International presented, for the first time, its Excellence Award for Outstanding Student Achievement to the best graduate of the double-award programme "Master/MBA of International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus". The winner of the 2004/2005 Montblanc Excellence Award is MIBE student Markus Gößler from Stuttgart. The International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) at Hamburg University and the School of Management of Fudan University in Shanghai are the organizers of the German-Chinese management program MIBE China Focus. This year's winner Markus Gößler received a special "Graduation Fountain Pen" from Montblanc, which is only brought out once a year, and will participate in the "China Summit" in Hamburg in September 2006. From now on, Montblanc will present its Excellence Award annually to the best in the year from the MIBE double-award programme.

Montblanc Excellence Award erster Schritt
Mit der Montblanc Initiative for Chinese-European Leadership Development verfolgt das internationale Luxus-Unternehmen gemeinsam mit dem International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) der Universität Hamburg mehrere Ziele. So unterstützt Montblanc die Ausbildung von Führungsnachwuchs für die chinesisch-deutschen und asiatisch-europäischen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen. Der jährlichen Verleihung des "Montblanc Excellence Award for Outstanding Student Achievement" an den besten Studierenden des ICGS-Studienprogramms "Master/MBA International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus" kommt dabei besondere Bedeutung zu.

Weiter engagiert sich das Unternehmen mit seiner Initiative für die Internationalisierung der Metropolregion und -Wachsenden Stadt- Hamburg, dem Unternehmenssitz. Hierzu fördert die Luxus-Marke auch die Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Hamburg und Schanghai.

Seit der Gründung der chinesischen Tochterfirma mit Sitz in Schanghai im September 2005 fördert der Luxus-Konzern den Austausch von Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft mit China. Als wirklich internationale Marke mit mehr als 20 Tochterfirmen und 260 Boutiquen weltweit sowie Handelspartnern in über 70 Ländern verfolgt Montblanc zudem einen zukunftsweisenden internationalen Ansatz für die Personalentwicklung, bei dem die Kooperation mit dem MIBE China Focus-Programm von besonderer Bedeutung ist.

Montblanc verleiht Excellence Award an MIBE-Student Markus Gößler
35 Studierende aus 15 Ländern nahmen gestern an der Graduation Ceremony des Startjahrganges 2004/2005 des deutsch-chinesischen Management-Programms "Master / MBA International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus" in Shanghai teil. Erstmalig verlieh das Unternehmen Montblanc International seinen Excellence Award for Outstanding Student Achievement an den besten Absolventen. Der Gewinner erhält einen speziellen "Graduation Fountain Pen", der nur einmal im Jahr aufgelegt wird, und die Teilnahme am "China Summit" in Hamburg im September 2006. Montblanc verleiht den Excellence Award in Zukunft jährlich an den Jahrgangsbesten des MIBE-Programms.

Die Veranstaltung wurde live übertragen in den Agathe-Lasch-Hörsaal der Universität Hamburg. Dort wohnten Universitätspräsident Dr. Dr. h.c. Jürgen Lüthje, Montblanc International Geschäftsführer Lutz Bethge und ICGS-Geschäftsführer Dr. Udo Thelen der Veranstaltung gemeinsam mit den MIBE-Studierenden des Jahrgangs 2005/2006 und zahlreichen Pressevertretern bei.

Gewinner des ersten "Montblanc Award for Outstanding Student Achievement" ist der MIBE-Student Markus Gößler. Gößler wurde 1979 in Stuttgart geboren. Er studierte Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Berufsakademie Stuttgart. Seine berufliche Karriere begann er nach dem Studienabschluss 2002 bei der DaimlerChrysler AG. Im Oktober 2004 begann er sein Studium in dem deutsch-chinesischen Studiengang "Master/MBA International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus" am International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) der Universität Hamburg und beendete das Programm im Oktober 2005 als Jahrgangsbester und erster Gewinner des Montblanc Excellence Award.

Das Management-Programm MIBE China Focus

Seit Oktober 2004 bieten das International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS), die Fakultät für Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften der Universität Hamburg, das Institut für Asienkunde (IFA) und die School of Management der Fudan Universität (Schanghai) ein einjähriges Doppelabschlussprogramm "Master/MBA of International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus" an. Nach Abschluss der Programms erhalten die Studierenden den Mastertitel der Universität Hamburg und den MBA-Titel der Fudan Universität. Das Programm bereitet auf eine international ausgerichtete Tätigkeit in Unternehmen und Organisationen mit Bezug zum chinesischen Wirtschaftsraum vor und trägt dazu bei, den wachsenden Bedarf an Nachwuchsführungskräften im Ostasiengeschäft (Schwerpunkt China) zu decken.

Die 35 Teilnehmer des ersten Jahrgangs kommen aus über 18 Ländern, darunter China, Deutschland, die USA, Mexiko, Spanien, Pakistan und Indonesien. Die Studierenden verbringen die ersten beiden Trimester an der Universität Hamburg und das dritte Trimester an der School of Management der Fudan Universität in Schanghai. Das Programm umfasst Kurse zum strategischen und interkulturellen Management im Geschäft mit China, zum wirtschaftlichen sowie zum politischen und kulturellen Umfeld von Unternehmen mit Schwerpunkt China. Unterrichtssprache ist Englisch, Sprachkurse in Chinesisch oder Deutsch sind fester Bestandteil. Programmdirektor auf der deutscher Seite ist Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Pfähler, Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Wirtschaftspolitik und Industrieökonomik an der Universität Hamburg und Mitglied der EMBA-Fakultät der China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Schanghai.

Programmpartner in Schanghai und Hamburg

Zwischen den Partnerstädten Hamburg und Schanghai sind in den vergangenen Jahren zahlreiche Projekte sowohl in der Wirtschaft als auch in Bildung, Forschung, Politik und Kultur initiiert worden. So hat das International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) der Universität Hamburg die School of Management der chinaweit als drittbeste Hochschule im Ranking geführten Fudan Universität als Programmpartner gewinnen können. Im nunmehr zweiten Jahr bieten die Universität Hamburg und die Fudan Universität in Schanghai ein gemeinsames Doppelabschlussprogramm "Master/MBA International Business and Economics (MIBE) - China Focus" an.

ICGS launches new Master Program in Asian-European Business Transactions
"Welcome to Hamburg, welcome to ICGS, to our new program and to the "golden October" which you should enjoy as long as it lasts!" With these introductory words Prof. Dr. Marian Paschke officially opened the new international LL.M. Program Asian-European Business Transactions (Focus on China, ASEAN and the EU), jointly developed and managed by the University of Hamburg?s Law Faculty, the Hanseatic Regional Bar Association and the International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) at the University of Hamburg. In his role as Program Director Professor Paschke was proud to welcome the first nine participants of this innovative LL.M. Program. Apart from the general academic courses, structured according to six modules, the LL.M. students from six different countries will undertake an obligatory internship of eight weeks, organized by the Hanseatic Bar Association. The orientation week offered various student services and intercultural training courses and activities in order to facilitate personal and cultural integration at the very beginning of the program. On October 25, students and faculty members had the opportunity to celebrate the establishment of their new program in the context of the opening ceremony of ICGS? Friendship Society.

After their first four weeks, students are enthusiastic about what they have experienced so far. "Mastering business transactions between Europe and the rest of the world is a key to success in the next years.", summarizes Vittorio Petrella, an LL.M. student from Italy, his motivation to apply to the program. Together with his classmates from the U.S., China, Thailand, Germany and Ukraine, Vittorio will be one of the pioneers of young professionals trained in the complex legal challenges arising from the China/Asia-Europe business arena. Hamburg citizens and local company representatives welcome ICGS' international students
For the second time, the Friendship Society welcomed the international students who enrolled for a graduate program at the International Center for Graduate Studies. Together with around 100 guests from Hamburg, who could not be deterred by the massive rain, they enthusiastically enjoyed this year`s grand opening ceremony which took place in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce`s impressive Albert-Schäfer-Hall, owing to its enormous support of the Volunteer Program.
At the beginning of the official part Dr. Peter Schäfer, Chairman of the University Society Hamburg, shortly introduced the Friendship Society and the core concept of the program. Welcome notes were given by Dr. Jens Peter Breitengroß, Vice President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Roland Salchow, State Secretary of the Ministry for Science and Health and Prof. Dr. Karl-Werner Hansmann, Vice President of the University of Hamburg. In his key-note speech, Beiersdorf Executive Board Chairman Thomas Quaas emphasised the importance of high potentials in globally operating companies. One of the highlights certainly was the "East meets West" musical performance by Chinese harp player Mona Li and her colleague Ulrike Beissenhirtz, playing the European flute.
The main idea of the event, to establish a network between international students, citizens of Hamburg and local companies was successfully accomplished during the informal reception following the official part. By the end of the evening more than 40 volunteers and students had sealed their friendship.
