During your studies at ICGS you will receive a printed Career Service Guide

German way", e.g. which documents are obligatory in a German application,
how to write a cover letter and CV or how to address the right contact at
a company.
Company visits
Every year company visits & workshops are an integral part of ICGS career

and to see behind the 'business' curtain. You can start your net-working right
on the ground!
Expert Lectures
On a regular base we invite guest speakers from different companies to speak
about various work related topics. You will have the opportunity to listen
to business managers and lawyers and learn from their experiences firsthand.
In addition you may ask questions and discuss current topics of interest.
Please refer to our company network site to
gain more information on our business partners.
Information about work permits for foreign students
Students often have a need to earn a little extra money on the side. This extra work however should never involve more than simply casual or temporary work, otherwise studies could suffer.
Foreign students who do not come from member states of the European Union,
from EEA countries and/or from Switzerland are only allowed to take on a limited
amount of paid employment without having to obtain a work permit. Foreign
students do not require a formal work permit when a temporary job does not
exceed a total of three months of employment per year.
This can be arranged as follows:
90 days per year (8 hour days); or
180 days per year (4 hour days);
2 days a week for a total of 45 weeks per year.
Individual hours per day are not allowed.
The expression 'Ferienarbeit erlaubt' (work permitted during vacation) must be indicated in the student visa issued by the immigration authorities.
Since 2005, a residence permit bound to a specific purpose can be issued
to university graduates for up to one year after the successful completion
of studies for the purpose of looking for a job. This job must be
1. appropriate to the degree or qualification, and
2. must be a job that the provisions of the Immigration Act allow to be taken
by foreigners, i.e. the Employment Agency must approve the employment and
a priority check (Vorrangprüfung) must possibly be carried out.
For more detailed information regarding the immigration regulations and restrictions
for international students please refer to the website of the German
Academic Exchange Service.
